With the participation of 36 already existing laboratories, the operation of the Ionian University Research Center began on September 1, as Professor Panagiotis Vlamos, head of the center, announced speaking to OT.gr at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
As he explained, dozens of laboratories are uniting through the research center for the first time and presenting their goals through the research center.
According to Mr. Vlamos, “life sciences stand out as top sectors, especially bioeconomics with food and environment, digital biomedicine, with collaborations with distinguished universities abroad, humanities, ie historical research, translation, interpretation, music studies department, librarianship, which are also promoted with new digital media and there is a good yeast of purely humanitarian areas in their modern expression.”
Referring to the role and competitiveness between universities, Mr. Vlamos pointed out: “What the Greek university must understand is that the end user is the student and not the professor or the research team. We are the ones who produce the added value that is given to the students in order to see them in very high positions and to support them in this.”
