Resources totaling 35.9 million euros from the Solidarity Fund for Greece were approved by the European Commission.
The money is intended to repair damage from three natural disasters and to deal with the pandemic, according to a statement from the Ministry of Development.
More specifically, following relevant requests from the Ministry of Development and Investment, the new funding approved is as follows:
· 3.3 million euros for the restoration of damages from the catastrophic floods in Evia in August 2020.
· 21.6 million euros for the restoration of damage from the Mediterranean cyclone “Ianos” that hit the Regions of the Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Thessaly and Central Greece in September 2020.
· 2.5 million euros for the restoration of damages from the earthquake of Samos in October 2020.
· € 8.5 million to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is pointed out that the EU Solidarity Fund helps to cover part of the cost for the restoration of public infrastructure, response services and temporary measures to relieve the local population from natural disasters, while since 2020 its scope of intervention has been expanded to finance emerging emergencies. of public health from health risks.
