“The upcoming arrival of natural gas in Corinth will upgrade the area in terms of energy and growth”, noted the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments Christos Dimas during today’s event for the inauguration of the works connecting Corinth to the natural gas network.
As the deputy minister wrote on social media: “Today is an important moment for the wider region of Corinth.”
“The upcoming arrival of natural gas in Corinth will upgrade the region in terms of energy and growth. The footprint of today’s investment and the start of operations is expected to positively affect the daily life of households and businesses. It is absolutely necessary to have a wider energy mix and to have access to forms of energy that are friendlier than lignite, such as natural gas. For the government, this is a priority that will upgrade the strategic position of Greece”, he said.

According to what has become known from an earlier meeting of the representatives of hengas, which has undertaken the project, with the mayor of Corinth, the time horizon of the project is determined, for the first phase, at approximately 5 years. The cost of the construction of the network will reach 8 million euros, but in total (together with the operating costs) it will exceed nine million (9.4 million) euros.
