A new visit was made early Thursday morning by the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, in order to monitor the course of the “permanent price reduction” program.
Visiting a branch of a well known supermarket chain, in Galatsi, Mr. Skrekas walked around the supermarket, saw how the prices were fluctuating and, among other things, noted that the course of the program has exceeded the government’s initial goal, which was 500 products, having until yesterday included 650 products from 53 companies participating in the program.
As the minister pointed out, the next goal is the 1,000 products that cover the basic needs of households.
While the minister underlined that the permanent price reduction tags are those that indicate that the respective product belongs to the program and has reduced its price by at least 5% and for at least 6 months.
At the same time, Mr. Skrekas added that “the battle for the reduction of prices continues on three axes:
Continuous and intensive checks on the market to prevent the phenomenon of profiteering
“Permanent Price Reduction” initiative, where we ask suppliers to steadily and permanently reduce the price of their products and,
The “household basket” that continues and the consumer can find products with the lowest prices to meet daily needs.
It is noted that the checks of the Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA) have already begun at the supermarket stores in order to establish whether they have placed the “permanent price reduction” tags, as they should.
