The Spanish multinational fashion giant Inditex, which includes the retail brands Zara, Zara Home, Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho, and Bershka under its umbrella, will reaffirm its dominance in the Greek market in 2024 with two new mega stores.

The first new Zara and Zara Home store is set to open in the Piraeus Tower, in Greece’s largest port, spanning 6,000 square meters from ground to second floor. Scheduled to open in mid-April, just ahead of Easter, it aims to attract consumers with its expansive offerings.

ITX Hellas, the Greek arm of Inditex, plans to unveil its second department store by late 2024 or early 2025, likely in Athens, signaling a significant move for the company in the Greek capital.

Zara is introducing a new store model in Greece, featuring spacious locations in iconic buildings and advanced digital services like real-time fitting room reservations, two-hour click-and-collect, online search capability for in-store items, and automated returns.

In contrast to competitors downsizing amid inflation, Inditex pursues a “go big” strategy, expanding flagship stores globally while closing underperforming ones and bolstering digital sales channels.

Enhanced stores will serve as both retail spaces and distribution centers, facilitating a more efficient hybrid retail model. Analysts note Inditex’s shift towards integrating digital capabilities with physical retail as a strategic move.
