Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and visiting Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos continued their talks about the wider audio-visual sector, with a particular emphasis on the eastern Mediterranean country, late into the evening on Thursday at the iconic Roman-era Herod Atticus Odeon, beneath the southern slope of the Acropolis.
The event that again brought together the pro-reform Greek premier and the head of the streaming and entertainment production giant was hosted by the Endeavor Greece initiative, which dutifully focused on innovation and entrepreneurship in the country – a leitmotif of Mitsotakis’ government.
In terms of the audiovisual sector, the center-right government in power since 2019 has enacted a number of incentives and tax breaks for studios and producers to choose Greece for shooting their projects.
Among others, Netflix shot its film “Beckett”, starring John David Washington, entirely in Greece several years ago.
The wide-ranging discussion was moderated by Linda Rottenberg, the CEO and acclaimed co-founder of Endeavor, the NGO that encourages the power of entrepreneurship.
It’s affiliate, Endeavor Greece, now counts as members several cutting-edge local companies, such as Spotawheel, Frezyderm, Softomotive, Workable, Instashop and Matternet.
