Electricity producers in Greece were the biggest consumers of natural gas in the country in the first half of 2022, the natural gas transmission system operator (DESFA) said announced on Wednesday.
Power producers accounted for 67.27 percent of domestic demand, with total consumption reaching 20.39 TWh. Consumption by households and businesses rose 8.42 percent in the first half of the year compared, compared with the same period in 2021. Consumption by domestic industries and compressed natural gas in the first half reached 1.67 TWh, down 71.06 percent compared with the corresponding period in 2021.
