Greece’s dominant power producer and provider, the Public Power Corp. (PPC), is, according to sources, interested in purchasing the Kotsovolos white and electronic goods retailer.
Market sources in Athens claim PPC, which operated for decades as an absolute horizontal and vertical electricity utility in Greece before the sector liberalization, is ready to table an offer to Kotsovolos’ parent company, UK-based Currys.
Officially, the company issued a terse “no comment” reply when contacted by Ot.gr for a reaction to the reports.
Nevertheless, the same sources said the ATHEX-listed utility, after dodging a near bankruptcy before 2019, is now well-placed to absorb the retailer’s extensive network throughout Greece.
