The destruction caused by the fires is not yet complete as the fire fronts are in progress in Thrace, Attica and Boeotia, but its consequences have already been felt.
The sky has changed color in recent days, smoke from the fire in Thrace has reached the Ionian Sea and the situation is aggravated by the fire in Parnitha, with experts warning of health effects.
The image from space
The picture from space is heartbreaking. The camera of the International Space Station captured the smoke that had spread across the country from the fires in Thrace.

Hazardous particles suspended in the atmosphere from the fire have multiplied with scientists sounding the alarm.
“In the areas where there is a great burden – not only in the burned areas, but also much further away – it is important to protect people who belong to vulnerable groups, citizens who have asthma, chronic respiratory lung disease. It would be a good idea to wear an FFP2 mask to minimize the chance of exposure when outdoors. This applies to a large extent in the center of Athens and in almost all of the capital,” Dimosthenis Sarigiannis, professor of Environmental Engineering at Thessaloniki University, told MEGA channel.
