The number of storm-related deaths from an intense weather front that passed through central Greece this past week rose to 15 on Sunday, after authorities discovered the body of a 42-year-old man in the Pagasitikos Gulf, off the port city of Volos.
At the same time, the number of missing people, according to authorities, is two.
Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts are continuing throughout the Thessaly plain, the largest such geographical feature in Greece and the country’s “bread basket”.
The 42-year-old victim was swept up by a gulley’s fast-flowing floodwater in front of his teenage son, and was the first person reported as missing during the storm “Daniel”.
