German financial daily Handelsblatt has posted an extensive feature on Greece’s real estate market this week, headlining the story “Attractive performances and lots of sun”.
The article focuses on the sale of luxury vacation homes, especially on the islands.
Handelsblatt quotes 65-year-old “Bert”, an engineer from Bavaria, and his wife, who are in the final stages of purchasing a 430-square-meter, two-storey holiday villa on the Dodecanese Island of Rhodes, a property situated on a large plot of land that also includes a pool and overlooks the sea.
However, prices are still down one-third from 2007 levels, just before the global credit crisis, which quickly morphed into the worst economic implosion in Greece after WWII.
