
Annual summer sales, which will last until August 31, begin today bringing with them great expectations for a boost to the retail market.
Next Sunday, July 17, stores can opt to remain open across the country from 11am to 8pm.

Summer sales are an opportunity for consumers to get some products at better prices in the run-up to the summer holidays as inflation has crushed the household disposable income.
In its announcement, the Business and Retail Association of Greece regarding the subject of summer sales states that: “During both the sales and the opening of the stores on Sunday, July 17, the retail businesses will display a wide variety of their products at extremely attractive and favorable prices”.
Also in his statements, the president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis, notes that: “From Monday, July 11, a long period of relief will begin in the face of punctuality and in favor of burdened family budgets, which will last 50 days, until August 31, and is appropriate for “smart” purchases”.
Buyers should pay attention that both the former price and the sale price are written on the relevant price tags. Retailers are not obliged to write the percentage of the sale, but if they do they should follow the number with the word sale (i.e. 50% sale). Ask if returns are allowed, and keep receipts if there is a possibility that you may return an item. Remember that not all items in a store are on sale, and those not discounted may actually be pricier than at other stores.
While some items may be on sale, others may be on offer, meaning that these are older or outdated items and possibly cannot be returned after being bought. In any event, consumers should noot hesitate to ask staff about any item, its origin and its qualities. Retailers are obligated by law to answer any and all questions concerning an item they are selling.
