The total contribution of Posidonia 2022 to the Greek economy, in stand construction, transportation, meetings and corporate events, accommodation and catering, tax revenue and foreign direct investments, is estimated at over 70 million euros.
The above is included in the Event Sustainability Report for this year’s 27th Posidonia, published by the Posidonia Exhibitions SA company, organizers of the world’s leading maritime exhibition. This year’s Posidonia was not only the largest, but also the most environmentally and socially sustainable in the institution’s 50-year history, with the widest benefit to date for the Greek economy, the report emphasizes.
Visitor record
Having broken all previous records for exhibition area, visitor numbers and publicity, with 1,964 exhibitors from 88 countries and territories, 24 national entries, 28,892 visitors from 103 countries and a total of 40,950 participants including exhibitors, visitors and members of the press, the Posidonia 2022 also raised the bar in terms of sustainability, as the function became the first Certified Sustainable Exhibition in Greece, receiving the ISO 20121 certification, as reported.
Sustainability
The commitment of Posidonia Exhibitions S.A. to integrate aspects of sustainability in all stages of planning and implementation of Poseidonia 2022 is reflected in the Event Sustainability Report, which among other things shows that this year’s report recorded:
• 11.25% reduction in electricity consumption by exhibitors
• 21.25% reduction in total water consumption
• 18.33% increase in reusable booths compared to the 2018 exhibition
• 55% of exhibitors implemented sustainability practices in their participation, following relevant prompts and guidance from the organizers
• 90% reduction in corporate printing & digitization of all promotional material.
At the same time, according to the same data, more than 200,000 euros were allocated for the support of organizations, NGOs and actions by Posidonia Exhibitions SA. The above amount was allocated, directly or indirectly, to support educational, environmental and cultural initiatives, as well as actions in the health sector.
“We are proud of these achievements, which attest to our desire to produce high-quality, internationally recognized exhibitions with which Posidonia has become synonymous” said Theodoros Vokos, CEO of Posidonia Exhibitions S.A.
The Posidonia 2022 Exhibition is under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Union of Greek Shipowners and the Maritime Chamber of Greece, with the support of the Municipality of Piraeus and the Hellenic Committee for Maritime Cooperation.
