More arrests in child abuse, sex trafficking case

Another 10 individuals have reportedly been identified as suspects who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl, who is at the center of an ongoing and extremely high-profile police and judicial investigation into a child sex trafficking ring.

Five individuals have already been ordered jailed pending trial, including the 53-year-old Sepolia district (central Athens) mini market owner deemed as the mastermind of the prostitution case, and the victim’s mother.

The names and photographs of two of the suspects have already been released, while a prosecutor’s order is pending for release of particulars of the other three.

Meanwhile, several other individuals continue to contact authorities and arrive at the main Athens police headquarters, after having communicated with the 12-year-old – as well as the main suspect impersonating the girl in order to schedule “dates – via a handful of online apps.
