Α draft presidential decree containing the Piraeus Port Authority’s (PPA) revised master plan has been approved in a majority Council of State (CoS) decision, it was announced on Monday. However, one condition linked with the approval is for a comprehensive transportation study of the PPA vicinity to be conducted and submitted.
Greece’s highest administrative court had reviewed the legality of the draft decree. The revised master plan includes zoning and environmental impact data.
A transportation study was stipulated due to the Cosco-controlled port authority’s proposed new convention center and hotels within its premises, a development that would significantly increase vehicle traffic in and around Greece’s biggest and busiest port, the CoS decision notes.
