Producers in Greece are sounding the “warning bells” at the beginning of the year due to the ongoing energy crisis and its accompanying effects on the inflation rate and their competitiveness, given that the crisis is expected to continue throughout 2023.
According to Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) president Dimitris Papalexopoulos, European producers and industries currently face an unprecedented crisis, with serious effects on potential, due to the uncompetitive energy costs for natural gas and electricity, but also due to the challenge of a “green transition”.
SEV leadership called for a “streamlining” the energy market, exempting bilateral electricity purchase contracts from market revenue caps, accelerating internal grid inter-connection projects, and finalizing the framework for multi-year rights (exceeding five years) for cross-border power connections.
