
Annual consumption of petroleum products in Greece for 2022 appears as mostly unchanged from 2020 levels, with the figure in absolute terms being 6.687 million metric tons in 2021 to 6.690 million metric tons in 2020.
In a preliminary breakdown announced by the Greek statitics authority, the figures show an increase in fuel consumption for 2021 and a double-digit decrease in heating oil consumption for the same year.
Specifically, consumption of unleaded petro was up by 5.1 percent, yoy, super unleaded by 13.6 percent, diesel by 4.1 percent and natural gas by 6.6 percent.
Conversely, the annual consumption of heating oil for 2021 was down by 16.7 percent compared with the previous year; down by 9.8 and 13.6 percent, respectively, for the low-sulfur and high-sulfur mazut fuel oil varieties.
