Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the campaign trail ahead of the May 21 election, promised a further cut in employers’ contributions towards wage-earners’ social security funds, speaking at a rally on Tuesday.
He also pledged an increase in the tax-free ceiling for families with children, by 1,000 euros, yet another election promise in order to achieve first place for his incumbent center-right New Democracy (ND) party and attain a big enough percentage of the general vote to form a one-party government.
More “goodies” for taxpayers were promises to increase wages in the country by 25 percent and a renewal of a subsidy program for young new home buyers.
