The Greek state budget posted a primary surplus of 2.3 billion euros in the January-April 2023 period, after a primary deficit of 921 million euros over the corresponding period in 2022, the Bank of Greece (BoG) announced on Wednesday.
The central bank attributed the development to a noteworthy increase in regular budget revenues, which reached 17.785 billion euros, up from 15.611 billion euros in 2022.
Regular budget spending totaled 19.902 billion euros, up from 19.636 billion euros in the same period last year.
Interest payments rose slightly to 3.3 billion euros.
The general government’s balance showed a deficit of 1.915 billion euros, compared to a deficit of 4.062 billion euros in 2022.
