
The president of the party, Alexis Tsipras, characterized the election result as extremely negative for SYRIZA.
In his statement Alexis Tsipras said that “competitions have both victories and defeats” stressing that the collective bodies will be convened immediately to assess the election result, stressing that we must immediately make all the changes needed to give our best conditions in the next crucial and final electoral battle”.
“The election result is extremely negative for SYRIZA. I contacted Mr. Mitsotakis a little while ago and congratulated him on his victory,” said Alexis Tsipras in his first statements after the big election defeat.
“The games have both victories and defeats, our collective bodies will convene immediately to evaluate the election results. However, the electoral cycle is not yet over since there will probably be a second electoral contest, so we don’t have much time,” he added.
“We must immediately make all the changes needed to give in the best possible terms in the next crucial and final electoral battle” he underlined.
“I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the hundreds of thousands of citizens who supported us with their votes and above all the thousands of members and friends of SYRIZA who fought the difficult electoral battle” concluded the president of SYRIZA.
