
The five people who were arrested on Saturday, May 20 by OPKE police officers, in the area of Karditsa, for violating the electoral legislation, were brought to the public prosecutor.
In their possession were found fake IDs, crossed ballots of a specific candidate and over 6,000 euros.
According to the a public broadcaster ERT report, the five arrested are being held so that they testify tomorrow, Monday, May 22, through the procedure of having been caught in the act. According to the same information, so far no prosecution has been registered against the candidate, whose crossed ballots and cards were found in their possession.

What happened
As Hellenic Police made known, yesterday, during a check, inside a vehicle owned by one of the arrested, 197 Identity Cards, a Passport, 2 photocopies of Identity Cards as well as a bag with 114 closed envelopes, each containing an MP candidate card and 5 ballots, were found with the name of the specific candidate crossed out.
At the same time, a total of 6,060 euros was found in the possession of two of the arrested.
The Karditsa Security Department, which is conducting the relevant preliminary investigation, seized all the above found items, as the investigation revealed evidence of approaching voters within the settlement in order to vote for the candidate for parliament in exchange for a sum of money.
