Greek Police, in cooperation with Italy’s Guardia di Finanza, on Thursday arrested the husband Greece’s natural gas transmission system operator (DESFA) on several outstanding warrants issued by a Milan prosecutor.
According to Il Giorno, Francesco Acerbi, 54, has been handed down a six-year jail sentence on an embezzlement conviction. He will now face an extradition hearing.
He allegedly fled Italy after being convicted on two separate first instance verdicts, and before the appeals process.
The consortium Senfluga Energy Infrastructure Holdings SA, comprised of the companies Snam S.p.A., Enagas Internacional S.L.U., Fluxys S.A. and Damco, hold a 66-percent stake in DESFA.
