Retail enterprises recorded a 9.8-percent increase in turnover in April 2023, reaching 3.39 billion euros, up from 3.09 billion euros in the same month of 2022, Greece’s statistics authority (EL.STAT) announced on Friday.
Conversely, the figure was down by 1.2 percent compared to March 2023.
Specifically, the largest percentage increase in turnover was recorded in stores selling second-hand items (up by a whopping 195.5 percent), followed in a distant second by audiovisual outlets (38.8 percent).
Stores selling carpets (-35.7 percent) and remote sales outlets (-10.2 percent) posted the biggest percentage decline.
In terms of regions, western Macedonia (19.8 percent) and Crete (12.9 percent) posted the biggest turnover increase, percentage-wise, while the northern Aegean recorded a decrease of 12.4 percent.
