Greek Shipping Min.: Marinas and ports under ministry responsibility

The new political leadership of the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy has been given oversight of marinas and ports, according to the government gazette.
In particular as stated in Official Gazette A 130/27 June 2023 in article 10 Renaming of the General Secretariat and transfer of responsibilities to the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy

– The General Secretariat of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy of issue C΄ of the pres. decree 13/2018 (A΄ 26) is renamed the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports. To the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports is transferred, as a set of responsibilities, organizational units, staff positions and supervised bodies, the Headquarters of the Coast Guard-Hellenic Coast Guard of article 12 of pres. decree 13/2018.

– From the General Secretariat of Infrastructure of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Directorate of Port Infrastructure (D 20) of the General Directorate of Hydraulics is transferred to the General Secretariat of Shipping and Ports of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, as a set of responsibilities, organizational units, staff positions and supervised entities , Port and Building Infrastructures of article 40 of the p.d. 123/2017 (A’ 151). We clarify here that article 40 of PD 123/2017 refers to the PORT INFRASTRUCTURE DIRECTORATE (D20), whose operational objectives are the planning, programming, awarding and execution of public project contracts, studies and service provision for Port Infrastructure projects under the responsibility of the General Infrastructure Secretariat, as well as the Port Infrastructures of other bodies and supervised Legal Entities, which are assigned to it by decision of the Minister of Infrastructure, etc.

– From the General Secretariat of Tourism Policy and Development of the Ministry of Tourism, the Department of Sea Tourism Infrastructure Siting and the Department of Contracts and Control of the Department of Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of the General Directorate of Tourism Policy of par. 2 and 3 of article 17 of the p.d. 127/2017 (A’ 157).

It is clarified that paragraphs 2 and 3 of article 17 of p.d. 127/2017 (Α΄ 157) refer, among other things, to the Marine Tourism Infrastructure Zoning Department, which is responsible for the spatial planning of the port infrastructure network and other marine facilities within the framework of the Integrated Maritime Policy and the National Development and Tourism Strategies in accordance with the applicable provisions and the each marine planning, etc.
