Cycladic: The goal is the air connection of the Cyclades with the North Aegean

Cycladic, which began operations in October 2022, seeks to overcome a series of bureaucratic obstacles in order to “open its wings” to other destinations beyond the six islands it currently serves with three planes, namely: Astypalaia, Paros, Milos , Syros, Naxos and Heraklion. Cycladic’s business plan includes the air connection of the Cyclades islands with the North Aegean. It also plans to add Santorini, Mykonos and Rhodes to its network.

Transport equivalent

“Cycladic Air aims to give travelers the opportunity to discover the Greek islands, combining the comfort and speed of our flights,” says the company’s representative, Mrs. Katerina Katopi.

For his part, Mr. Giorgos Leontaritis, deputy regional governor of Cyclades, points out that “the air connection between the islands with Cycladic planes is a useful and effective solution for the permanent residents of the islands, while also contributing to the enrichment of the tourist product”. He proposes to extend to the use of Cycladic planes the institution of the transport equivalent for the permanent residents of the islands.

The fleet

Cycladic’s fleet consists of three state-of-the-art Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, which have a capacity of 8 to 12 passengers, while regarding the transport of luggage, there is no restriction, as each passenger has the right to hand luggage weighing up to 8 kg, while they may also carry luggage up to 23 kg.

The company aims to use electric aircraft in the future that will offer the lowest carbon footprint compared to other aircraft through a strategic partnership between Cycladic and Monte Aircraft Leasing Limited, which envisages the conversion of Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft to electric engines .

The conversion process will begin simultaneously with the commencement of operation of the relevant legislative and regulatory framework.

At the same time, the company’s management continues its efforts to carry out scheduled flights to destinations such as Mykonos and Santorini, which for bureaucratic reasons it has not yet included in its summer schedule despite the fact that it served them successfully during last year’s winter season.
