Torrential rainfall that fell overnight in the greater Volos region of central Greece caused at least one major gulley to overflow with floodwaters, as the area gain bore the brunt of another intense weather storm this month.
Several roads in the coastal city were flooded on Thursday morning, with one hospital also suffering flood damage.
A traffic prohibition was in place in Volos for private vehicles.
Several mountainous villages overlooking Volos, on Mt. Pelion, also sustained damages from flash flooding and landslides, the second time this month, and more than two weeks after a record-breaking storm, Daniel, devastated the wider region.
In a related development, a private helicopter reportedly crashed in northern Evia island on Thursday morning, another adjacent area hard hit by the latest storm.
The aircraft, carrying two people, went down near the coastal village of Aghia Anna.
No information was given on the status of the two passengers aboard the helicopter, while rescue crews were racing to the site.
