Unemployment in Greece fell to 14.6% in July 2021, compared to 14.8% in the previous month and 16.8% in July 2020, according to Eurostat data released today.
In July 2021, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area was 7.6%, up from 7.8% in June 2021 and from 8.4% in July 2020. The unemployment rate in the EU was 6.9% in July 2021, from 7.1% in June 2021 and from 7.6% in July 2020.
Eurostat estimates that 14.613 million men and women in the EU, of which 12.334 million in the eurozone, were unemployed in July 2021.
In terms of youth unemployment (under 25), in July 2021, the unemployment rate was 16.2% in the EU and 16.5% in the euro area, up from 16.9% and 17%. , 2% respectively in the previous month.
In Greece, youth unemployment rose to 37.6% in July 2021, compared to 29.7% in the previous month and 36.1% in July 2020. Greece has the highest youth unemployment rate in the EU, followed by Spain (35.1%) and Italy (27.7%).
