Moderate quake recorded off southern Cyprus

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded on Tuesday evening off southwest Cyprus, in the east Mediterranean.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the quake was pinpointed at 22 kilometers southeast of the port city of Paphos, and 56 kilometers from the inland capital of Nicosia. The tremor’s depth was measured at 60 kilometers.
