The Hellenic Marine Equipment Manufacturers and Exports – HEMEXPO and the Hellenic Manufacturers of Defence Material Association – SEKPY signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Tuesday, June 7, jointly acknowledging that the shipping and defense industry, as well as the activities that accompany the development, are a strategic growth sector for Greece.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the president of HEMEXPO Ms. Eleni Polychronopoulou and the president of SEKPY Mr. Tassos Rozolis at the site of the international shipping exhibition Posidonia 2022.
Both HEMEXPO and SEKPY believe that through their cooperation they are creating a competitive advantage, as they take advantage of opportunities and make the most of their capabilities, knowledge and experience.
The aim is to develop synergies that will strengthen their export orientation and at the same time increase their competitiveness and penetration in foreign markets.
The goals
The purpose of the agreement is to identify areas of common interest and actions in order to:
- To create new jobs.
- To increase the turnover and exports of companies operating in the sector.
- To increase the activities of research and technological development of new prototype products through cross-sectoral collaborations.
- To develop international collaborations that will aim at the promotion but also the development of innovative products and services that will equip the new designs of merchant and warships and naval / defense equipment.
- Increase product certifications to meet the respective specifications.
- To contribute to the creation of an innovative industrial shipping equipment activity targeting mainly the international market
