A Cooperation Pact, inaugurating a new era of Greek-French exchanges in their fields of activity, including maritime education, was signed in the presence of the Ambassador of France Mr. Patrick Maisonnave and the President of the Eugenides Foundation (IE), Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Eugenidis, the Cooperation Advisor and Educational Action of the French Embassy, Mr. Nicolas Eybalin, and the authorized Governor of the Eugenides Foundation, Mr. Ioannis Golias.
The pact
The pact signed on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, defines, among other things, the cooperation for the realization of a series of educational actions grouped in four axes: In the co-organization of four scientific lectures by recognized academic French scientists, in contact with institutions in France with the aim of joint actions for the formation of a framework of positions for the improvement of maritime education, the co-organization of exhibitions with “La Cité des sciences et de l’industrie” at the facilities of the Eugenides Foundation, and finally the development of school workshops based on board games and construction games, in the context of purpose of the Foundation. The foundations were also laid for the support of the French Institute of Greece in the main goal of the Eugenides Foundation, which is to contribute to technical professional education with an emphasis on maritime education and digital transformation.
Advancement of science
The Ambassador of France welcomed the initiative of the Eugenides Foundation, which contributes significantly to the promotion of Science and Technology by combining learning and entertainment, in a high-standard space that has one of the largest and most well-equipped digital planetariums in the world and an impressive exhibition space. Mr. Dimitriadis-Eugenidis emphasized that the Eugenides Foundation is launching a closer collaboration with corresponding educational organizations in France, through the educational and cultural arm of the French embassy, the French Institute of Greece, with the aim of developing joint actions and a fruitful exchange of views in the direction of achieving their goals. He also mentioned the efficient collaboration of the Foundation with the French Science Center “La Cité des sciences et de l’industrie” in the context of the Interactive Science and Technology Exhibition hosted from 2006 to 2017, at the Eugenides Foundation.
