Dior showcases latest collection with stellar event from Athens’ Panathinaiko stadium
French luxury giant Dior paid tribute to the bicentennial of the start of the Greek War of Independence, and showcased its latest collection in the process, during a stellar event on Thursday evening at the Athens Panathinaiko stadium, the marble-covered venue where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.

The event, attended by only 400 people, including Greece’s president of the republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, was held in the massive U-shaped stadium, and was beamed around the world over the Internet and a dedicated YouTube channel.

Dior used several other iconic monuments in the country, such as the Acropolis, for its campaign, combining a tribute to the Greek Revolution of 1821, Hellenic civilization in general, and revolving around the woman.

In a Tweet, Dior wrote: “The legacies of Greek antiquity and Paris couture combine in this sneak peek at the #DiorCruise 2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, unveiled live from Athens today at 8.30pm CET …”
