AVAX first major contractor selected for Ellinikon project

ATHEX-listed construction company AVAX has been selected as the primary contractor in the first phase of infrastructure and building works at the massive Helleniko property development site in coastal southeast Athens.

AVAX was picked in an international tender by the project’s concessionaire, ATHEX-listed Lamda Development, a selection made last July, according to reports.

Lamda bills the entire project as “The Ellinikon”, the biggest property development ever in Greece and a landmark privatization.

Sources said related construction works will begin this month, and continue at least until September 2025. First phase works include an extensive road network, including an underground and overpass portion of the coastal Posidonos Boulevard, well as other utilities.

Other first phase works including residential housing, commercial property, a sports complex, and landscaping for a huge metropolitan park.
