Greece’s Council of State (CoS), the country’s highest administrative court, on Friday threw out a slew of legal challenges to a government decision mandating the obligatory vaccination for Covid-19 for first-responders and employees at all types of healthcare facilities.
The ruling essentially upholds the constitutionality of the measure, and according to legal experts in the country, opens the path for an expansion of the obligation to other professional castes.
Failing to get the specific vaccinations, employees in the specific public sectors are now suspended without pay.
The main point cited by a majority of high court justices is the emphasis on a protection of public health.
