The first business contract in Greece that deals with discrimination, violence, harassment and intimidation in the workplace has been signed.
This is the contract signed by the Alpha Bank employees’ association with the Bank’s management – after two months of consultations – and which sets rules and principles for dealing with violence, harassment, discrimination and intimidation.
With the signing of the agreement, both sides stated that there will be zero tolerance for such phenomena. The agreement is also welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mrs. Maria Syregela, who notes that “the implementation of rules within companies to create a safe and healthy working environment, without violence, harassment and discrimination, is a common goal and common interest of all.”
The overall framework of the agreement aims to prevent and address discrimination, violence and harassment at work as well as the management of petitions – complaints. Its scope extends to the entire Alpha Bank Group even to employees who are temporarily employed, lending, seconded as well as trainee lawyers, trainees and apprentices or volunteers.
The agreement includes specific measures for prevention, risk mitigation, incident management and information and awareness-raising activities. In all these procedures the association participates by appointing its own representative in the prescribed committee.
