Τhe first-ever pharmaceutical cannabis production plant in Greece was inaugurated on Thursday outside the south-central city of Corinth, west of Athens.
The unit is opened by Tikun Europe, a subsidiary of Israel-based TikunOlam, one of the world’s leading producers of pharmaceutical cannabis.
Development & Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis hailed the cutting-edge investment and its exports prospects for the entire European market.
He also publicly acknowledged the significant and “ground-breaking” work done by a political rival, Nikos Karanikas, who served as former premier Alexis Tsipras strategic planning advisor in the 2015-19 leftist government.
According to TikunOlam Europe CEO Nikos Beis, the project’s investment exceeds 40 million euros. The unit will operate on a six-hectare site with indoors areas including cutting-edge hybrid greenhouses.
