A 43-year-old local man was arrested on Friday in Athens in connection to the violent clashes on Aug. 7 outside the AEK Athens stadium in the Nea Philadelphia district, which resulted in one stabbing death and several people injured.

The suspect, who reportedly has a past involvement in hooligan football violence, was arrested on a warrant issued late Thursday evening after he posted an incriminating video of himself on social media. As such, he is the 106th suspect arrested in relation to the case, although the vast majority of remanded individuals so far are Croatian nationals.

A man in the specific video is shown wearing a helmet and leading Dinamo Zagreb “ultras” to the site of the violence outside the stadium. Greek police claim he is the same person who was injured in December 2022 during a clash outside the first instance courthouse of Athens.
