US President Joe Biden on Friday proclaimed Greek Independence Day (March 25) as a national day of celebration of Greek and American democracy, calling “upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”
Inspired by Greece’s War of Independence in 1821, Biden referred in his message to the historically high level of Greek-American relations, and to the expanded agenda that defines Washington’s strategic relationship with Athens.
The US president’s entire proclamation is found here.
