EU Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis on Thursday forecast that the funds emanating from the Union’s Covid-19 recovery fund will flow next month for between 10 and 15 member-states.

Speaking in Brussels to a small group of reporters, including a correspondent of “Die Welt”, he said the exact number or which member-states will first benefit is not yet known. This will be based on the evaluation of investment and reforms plans submitted by member-states to the Commission in order to tap the fund.

So far, 23 out of 27 EU members have submitted national plans for the “Recovery and Resilience Fund”, with the Czech Republic filing its plan on Wednesday.
National plans by Bulgaria, Estonia, Malta and the Netherlands are pending.

As far as Greece is concerned, the country expects to access 7.9 billion euros in recovery funding in 2021.
