The UK’s ambassador in Athens, Kate Smith, on Tuesday estimated that her government “may” return Greece to its “green list” in the near future, thereby allowing UK citizens who travel to the latter to repatriate without a required quarantine stay at home.
Greece, along with other EU countries, has been placed by the Johnson government on its “Amber list”, meaning that people to returning Britain from the former must remain in quarantine for 10 days.
Speaking at a virtual seminar on the issue of “tourism and safety”, Smith reminded that the UK government’s data on the pandemic is updated every three weeks.
Greece and other EU countries have criticized the decision.
