The Administration and SEV officials will pay a working visit to Thrace on February 21-23. According to the announcement, the visit is planned in the context of SEV’s wider effort to support entrepreneurship and manufacturing in the region.
This is the second major of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises visit to the region, during which meetings will be held with dynamic companies from Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, with the regional authorities, business entities and the rectory authorities of the Democritus University of Thrace.
The object of the new contacts is the special challenges and opportunities faced by the companies of Thrace, with emphasis on the further support of the business community and the society of the region. The discussions will be guided by the results of the work of the Inter-Party Committee of the Parliament for Thrace, which adopted many of the SEV proposals for the revitalization of regional development.
The program
According to the program, today, Monday, January 21, the SEV delegation will visit business facilities in the region, while tomorrow, Tuesday, February 22, it will hold a meeting with the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christos Metios.
On the same day, the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Protocol between SEV and the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) will take place, which concerns every aspect of the interconnection of companies and universities. The DUTH-SEV agreement is part of the common will for a more substantial cooperation between universities, research centers and entrepreneurship – as was the case with the recent SEV agreements with the Athens University of Economics, the NTUA, the EP Democritus, the industrial doctorates in University of Patras, as well as the internship for members of the Association, but also the AIMinds academy in collaboration with SAS at universities in the country.
On Wednesday, February 23, a round table discussion will be held with companies from Thrace, in order to identify common areas for action to support them.
Indicative priority issues are the acceleration of infrastructure projects that serve the needs of processing in the region, the access of local companies to financial tools through the new NSRF and the Recovery Fund, the challenges of extroversion and unfair competition from neighboring countries, modern technical skills, the settlement of pending issues of the central administration to the companies of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and the adoption of innovative and digital solutions in production.
The mission of SEV will be headed by Mr. Efthymios O. Vidalis, Chairman of the Executive Committee of SEV, with the participation of the General Manager, Mr. Alexandros Hatzopoulos, the Deputy General Manager, Dr. George Xirogiannis, and the responsible staff.
In view of the visit, in a message, Mr. Efthymios O. Vidalis, points out: “the strengthening of the Greek regions, and especially of Thrace, apart from being a matter of national priority, is also a critical development condition. For SEV, national development cannot be achieved without regional development, which, with the leverage of modern entrepreneurship, creates opportunities and prospects for young people and society as a whole.”
