Τhe value of Greece’s imports from Russia registered a significant increase of 178.3% in August 2022 compared to August 2021, according to the data release by the Hellenic Statistical Authority- ELSTAT concerning the bilateral trade between Greece and Russia and between Greece and Ukraine .
I. BILATERAL TRADE GREECE-RUSSIA
In August 2022 the value of imports of Greece from Russia was 1,207.0 million euros, recording an increase of 178.3% in comparison with August 2021 when it was 433.7 million euros. The value of exports of Greece to Russia in August 2022 was 8.1 million euros, recording a decrease of 44.2% in comparison with August 2021 when it was 14.6 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Russia in August 2022 was negative and amounted to 1,198.8 million euros (deficit).
During the period January-August 2022 the value of imports of Greece from Russia was 5,727.4 million euros, recording an increase of 137.3% in comparison with the period January-August 2021 when it was 2,413.2 million euros.
The value of exports of Greece to Russia during the period January-August 2022 was 78.0 million euros, recording a decrease of 33.8% in comparison with the period January-August 2021 when it was 117.8 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Russia during the period January-August 2022 was negative and amounted to 5,649.4 million euros (deficit).
II. BILATERAL TRADE GREECE-UKRAINE
In August 2022 the value of imports of Greece from Ukraine was 18.4 million euros, recording an increase of 5.6% in comparison with August 2021 when it was 17.4 million euros. The value of exports of Greece to Ukraine in August 2022 was 19.4 million euros, recording an decrease of 62.3% in comparison with August 2021 when it was 51.5 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Ukraine in August 2022 was positive and amounted to 1.0 million euros (surplus).
During the period January-August 2022 the value of imports of Greece from Ukraine was 101.0 million euros, recording a decrease of 16.2% in comparison with the period January-August 2021 when it was 120.5 million euros. The value of exports of Greece to Ukraine during the period January-August 2022 was 204.1 million euros, recording an increase of 7.8% in comparison with the period January-August 2021 when it was 189.3 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Ukraine during the period January-August 2022 was positive and amounted to 103.1 million euros
(surplus).
