Overnight stays in rental rooms witnessed a rise in February, according to Greece’s statistical authority (ELSTAT).
The provisional monthly data released by ELSTAT focusing on the second month of the year revealed that arrivals at tourist accommodations amounted to 773,104 and overnight stays were 1,677,685, registering a notable uptick compared to the corresponding month of 2023, by 1.2% in arrivals and 1.6% in overnight stays.
The Hellenic Statistical Authority’s provisional monthly data recorded the comparative trends in different types of accommodation facilities like hotels, camping, and collective short-stay rental rooms.
In particular, during February 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, there was a rise of 1.6% in arrivals and 1.8% in overnight stays by foreigners. The number of domestic visitors was up in terms of arrivals and overnight stays by 1.0% and 1.4%, respectively.
Domestic visitors were the main contributors to the increase in arrivals and overnight stays in the accommodations, accounting for 64.9% and 60.4%, respectively. The average total overnight stay for February 2024 amounted to 2.2 days.
