Athens-based start-up Augmenta Agriculture Technologies this week announced its full buyout by CNH Industrial, an Italian-American multinational producer of farm machinery and construction equipment, for an eyebrow-raising 110 million euros.

Augmenta will remain headquartered in Athens as part Raven, a CNH industrial brand, and it will retain its workforce and serve as an innovation hub.

Established by two IT graduates of the University of Thessaly in central Greece, and with the concept evolving from the pair’s senior thesis, Augmenta provides services and products to professional farmers.

In its website, the company founders, Dimitris (Jim) Evangelopoulos and George Varvarelis, state that the company offers «…the world’s first real-time, camera and AI based VRA hardware platform», one that can be retrofitted to pre-owned farming equipment.
