The decisive role now played by artificial intelligence in the transformation of the media was highlighted by Rosie Allimonos, CEO & Co-founder of HERA Media Group and Group Technology & AI Advisor of Alter Ego Media, during her participation in the panel “From Data to Decisions: AI and the Real Economy” at the Delphi Economic Forum XI.
In the discussion, which took place within the Future section, also participated Despina Doxaki, Independent Non-Executive Board Member of PPC SA; Petros Kapasouris, General Manager of Tiresias and member of the Board of Directors of ACCIS; and Dinah Rabe, Director Europe at BABL AI. The discussion was moderated by Nikos Maniatis, Partner and Head of Technology & Transformation at KPMG in Greece.
Rosie Allimonos focused in particular on the changes that artificial intelligence is bringing to the media sector, noting that the discussion should not be limited only to faster content production. As she emphasized, “artificial intelligence has a major impact on mass media”; however, the most interesting issue is not simply the speed at which content can be produced.
In this context, Alter Ego Media, as she explained, is moving in two main directions. The first concerns the training of employees through the creation of an academy, with the aim of familiarizing them with the use of artificial intelligence and the changes it brings to the sector. The second concerns the recognition of the responsibility that news organizations have toward the public, so that they use technology in a way that serves reliable information.
Rosie Allimonos also stressed that for an investment in artificial intelligence to pay off in the media sector, it is not enough to adopt general tools. On the contrary, as she noted, it is crucial for an organization to be able to work with different teams and to create systems tailored to their specific needs.
“For the investment that a media organization makes in artificial intelligence to pay off, it is important that it is able to work with different teams and create systems that address exclusively the needs of those teams,” she stated.
In closing, Rosie Allimonos summed up the main message of her intervention in one phrase: “Artificial intelligence is changing the media.”
