Athens public transport has switched to its summer schedule, with metro trains, the ISAP suburban railway, trams and buses now running on reduced frequencies through Augut. The change is now in effect and will remain in place until the first ten days of September.

The seasonal adjustment applies to most lines across the network, though not uniformly. Routes serving Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos,” the port of Piraeus and the city’s coastal zone are exempt from the cutbacks and continue to run at reinforced frequency.

Here is what the new schedule looks like across the network:

Line 1, the ISAP suburban railway, will see trains every seven to seven and a half minutes on weekdays.

Line 2 of the Athens Metro will operate at four and a half minute intervals during peak hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Outside those hours, frequency will range from five to seven minutes.

Line 3 of the Metro will run every four and a half minutes during the morning rush and every five and a half to eight minutes for the rest of the day.

Trams will run about every 12 minutes until 10 p.m.

Commuters and visitors planning trips this summer should factor in the longer wait times on the affected lines, particularly outside peak hours. Winter frequencies are set to resume in the first ten days of September.
