Greece’s shipping ministry on Thursday announced that five Greek-flagged vessels are docked or sailing in various parts of the northern Black Sea, both in Russian and Ukrainian territorial waters.

A total of 42 Greek seamen are serving aboard those vessels.

Additionally, another six Greek-owned vessels – flying “flags of convenience” – are located in the same maritime region, with 12 Greek seamen aboard.

Away from the immediate war zone in the Black Sea, six Greek-flagged vessels are sailing elsewhere in the same sea, with 44 Greek citizens aboard.

Two of the vessels remain stuck in the Odessa area’s Yuzhne port, given Ukrainian authorities’ prohibition against allowing vessels to sail into a war zone; another is docked at Odessa proper; two are anchored in the Kerch Strait; one is anchored off Novorossiysk; two are docked in Novorossiysk; one in the port of Dneprobugskiy (Ukraine), and other in the inland port of Mykolaiv (Ukraine).

A recommendation by Greece’s registry for the immediate withdrawal and non-approach of the specific region still stands.
