A long-time ban on the nighttime sailing of commercial vessels off the Hellenic Navy’s anchorage on the island of Salamina, across from the Attica prefecture mainland to the north, has been lifted, according to an announcement by the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (HSSA).

In a press release, the association that problems and “unreasonable delays” created by the ban were finally abolished with a decision by the new Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Adm. Ioannis Drymoussis, to issue NAVTEX 532/2023.

Commercial vessels wishing to sail through the specific strait where the anchorage is located will have to submit a relevant notification two hours prior to their passage.
