The unemployment rate in Greece eased to 10.9 percent in August 2023, down from 12.3 percent in the corresponding month of 2022, but mostly unchanged from the previous month, July 2023, the Hellenic Statistical Authority announced on Monday.
Specifically, the number of unemployed people in August totaled 512,193, down from 71,013 from August 2022, lower by 2,080 from July 2023.
The unemployment rate among women reached 14.4 percent (16.3 percent in August 2022).
More importantly, the unemployment rate in the age group 15-24 dropped to 22.5 percent, from 29.8 percent in August 2022.
