The import price index in Greece’s industrial sector grew by 11 percent in December 2022, compared with the same month in 2021, after a 23.6-percent increase posted in the corresponding months in 2021 and 2020, Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Tuesday.
The statistics authority attributed the development to “imported inflation” and to a 12.7-percent hike in the import price index from countries outside the Eurozone.
Additionally, EL.STAT cited a 7.6-percent increase in the index from Euro area countries.
The import price index fell by 2.6 percent in December 2022 from the previous month, November 2022, while on average, the index rose by 27.7 percent in 2022, compared with 2021.
